Jennings, Haug & Cunningham Founding Partner Elias Romley Recognized by Peers
Late Attorney Inducted into Maricopa County Bar Association’s 2009 Hall of Fame
PHOENIX (November 13, 2009) – Jennings, Haug & Cunningham L.L.P. is proud to announce that one of its founding partners, the late Elias Romley, has been inducted into the Maricopa County Bar Association’s 2009 Hall of Fame.
This year’s honorees, which include 21 legal professionals from Arizona, were recognized by their peers for having a significant impact on the practice of law. This marks the second consecutive year that a Jennings, Haug & Cunningham partner has made the list. Bill Haug was included in 2008, the inaugural year of the Hall of Fame.
Romley began his legal career in 1932 and formed the first partnership at Moore & Romley in 1937, the firm known today as Jennings, Haug & Cunningham.
Romley, a well-known trial and appellate lawyer, was recognized nationally as one of the first two Arizona lawyers invited to be a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1950. Other professional recognitions include the State Bar’s Walter E. Craig Distinguished Service Award (1971) and an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Arizona in 1979. In addition, Romley was the founder and first president of the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services, serving from 1980 to 1984.
The Maricopa County Bar association’s Hall of Fame honors judges and lawyers who have practiced law for a minimum of 10 years. Those recognized have had a significant influence on the growth of the Maricopa County Bar Association, made a unique contribution to the law or exhibited leadership within the community and the profession.
